In an important match-up between two divisional opponents, the Clarksburg JV Baseball team did not do themselves any favors during the first two innings leading to a 8-2 loss.
The Coyotes allowed 7 runs on 6 walks and 3 errors over the first two innings. Even though they outplayed the Jaguars over the final 5 innings, Clarksburg could not claw back enough to make the game close.
After the sloppy play early in the game, sophomore pitcher Bailey Arensmeyer threw 4.2 innings of relief while only allowing one unearned run in the fifth.
Clarksburg made contact consistently throughout the game, but often the ball went right to the Northwest defenders. In the sixth inning, freshman Chase Aldous tripled to right center and scored immediately on a single up the middle by freshman Kyle D’Attilio. A couple of Northwest errors allowed D’Attilio to score to make the score 8-2, but the Coyotes couldn’t make it any closer in the seventh.
Next up for the Coyotes is a home game against Quince Orchard on Tuesday.
