In a game with a delayed start, the Clarksburg JV Baseball team lost to BCC 6-1 despite out hitting the Barons 10-7.
The Coyotes got a runner on base in every single inning, but a lack of clutch hitting and a handful of baserunning miscues kept them off the scoreboard until the seventh inning. Freshman first baseman Kyle D’Attilio walked to lead off the inning, and advanced to second on an error by the BCC catcher. He advanced to third on a single by sophomore second baseman Phillip Del Sordi, and scored on a passed ball.
Unfortunately the Coyotes were way behind thanks to a number of weird bounces. Freshman starting pitcher Chase Aldous only allowed two hits through 3 2/3 innings, but allowed 5 runs (only two earned). Aldous struck out 6 but issued 4 walks and hit a batter.
Freshman relief pitcher Nick Shifflett threw 3 1/3 innings of relief and only allowed one earned run. Shifflett gave up 5 hits, but some nice defensive plays kept the Coyotes within reach.
The Coyotes will look to bounce back Saturday against Einstein at 10 a.m.
